I LOVE books!
I can't remember a time when I haven't had a book to hand that inspires, informs or entertains me.
Although I prefer the paper versions, books are now so affordable through Kindle that with a quick click you can access ideas to help move your life and business forward with very little time, effort and resources.
Here are a few books that I recommend....
How to Make One Hell of a Profit and still get to Heaven by John DeMartini - In this book DeMartini provides a spiritual, practical and values based approach to managing money and business through loving, grateful, value added service. The principles are easy to adopt and have shown me a more joyful and enjoyable approach to financial success
The Florence Scovel Shinn Collection (includes the Game of Life and How to Play It) - I first read this book about 12 years ago and have recently revisited it. The biblical references may not suit everyone but she uses them as metaphors or stories to explain her philosophy. It's a great reminder to keep focused on what you do want and to align your thoughts, words and actions. As she says in her book 'most people consider life a battle, but it is not a battle, it is a game'.
Unthinking by Harry Beckwith. Based on research from hundreds of businesses worldwide master marketer Beckwith sheds a light on the world's most intriguing subject 'us'. He shows through fascinating examples what leads us to choose what we choose and buy what we buy - without really consciously thinking. I can certainly relate to the examples.
Here's an intriguing one 'Why does warning us that we will die if we don't buckle up lead more of us to not fasten our seat belts?' This is a must read if you want to delve into the reasons for our choices and decisions, particularly when it comes to buying products and services
There is a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem by Wayne Dwyer. I am open to exploring life and work on many levels but from my own experience if I face issues or problems then there is a tendency to want to take action, control the external situation or push things along. Unfortunately this can turn into frustration and struggle energy.
There is another way which is to stop giving energy to things you don't believe in and to create the space and connection to your inner wisdom which usually has the answers. A great resource if you have challenging problems to solve and need to take a different approach.
Finally, I have always taken an interest in healthy eating. There are some fabulous books out there with simple yet nutritious recipes which are worth exploring such as The Art of Eating Well by Hemsley and Hemsley, Honestly Healthy for Life - Healthy Alternatives for Everyday Eating by Natasha Corrett and Vicki Edgson and I'm looking forward to Ella Woodward's book Deliciously Ella out in January 2015.
I would love to hear from you if you have any book recommendations that have made a difference in your life.
