I hope you've had a good start to the year!
Did January seem like a long month to you?! I am so pleased that we ran our 21 Day Path to Wellbeing programme on Facebook, as it kept me motivated to eat well, exercise and stay positive.
We had a great discussion in our Group and I've been inspired by everyone who participated and contributed. If you missed this one we will be running another group in April.
Although we would all love to have a stress free year, inevitably when running a business many of us will face setbacks whether this is at home or work. Some of these might be relatively minor while others are on a much larger scale.
Whatever you may be experiencing now or may yet face it's important to know how to handle problems in a way that helps build strength and most importantly resilience.
Resilience is a skill that we can develop as it gives us the capacity to overcome problems and setbacks. It doesn't mean that we experience things as any less difficult or upsetting than other people or that we become hard and uncaring.
It just means that we are better able to handle and overcome change, loss and disappointments without feeling overwhelmed and falling apart.
Here are some factors that contribute to resilience...
1. Nurturing and developing a good support network of family and friends
2. Asking for personal and professional help.
3. Being realistic about the situation yet keeping a positive view of yourself and your abilities. What would your future self say about what you are going through?
4. Having a compassionate, loving and kind approach towards yourself - always!
5. Self awareness and the ability to manage emotions effectively
6. Making a plan to take you forward. You'll feel better when you have something else in place
7. Practicing extreme self-care - meditation, relaxation, energy rich food. When you feel good you'll think differently and make better decisions than when you are stressed and anxious.
I do hope that 2017 will be an exceptionally good year for you, and even if life may be difficult or disappointing at times, that you'll emerge with greater growth and courage in your business.
