The power of being seen and heard

Hello Theo,

“I have to be seen to be believed” is a quote attributed to Queen Elizabeth II, and yet it’s also very relevant for small business owners.

Because one of the most successful ways to market our services, attract an audience and earn more money is to be more visible.

A few years ago, I was approached by an international organisation to work with them, following a presentation I gave at a Women in Engineering conference.

This would never have happened if I’d stayed behind the scenes.

However, I know it can feel daunting to be seen and heard, especially if we're worried about other people’s opinions and judgements.

For a long time I was more concerned about the reactions of my family, than my friends and colleagues!

So how do you feel about your visibility?

Is it something you struggle with?

Will you join me in letting go of perfectionism, fear, and doubt to be seen and heard?

As Serena Williams said, "Every woman's success should be an inspiration to another. We're strongest when we cheer each other on"

Here are just some of the benefits you’ll experience…

Increased brand awareness: although small businesses typically don’t have large marketing budgets, we can still bring awareness to our products and services, by sharing our story, values, and knowledge in our communities and on-line. It’s a great way to generate word of mouth marketing and to attract new clients.

Trust: By being visible and approachable, you can help build trust and develop relationships with others. This is particularly important for businesses where clients are not just hiring your programme or services, they are hiring YOU.

Being seen as the expert: By sharing your experience and knowledge through speaking engagements, blogs, Podcasts, and other media, you can establish yourself as a sought-after expert in your field.

A growing network of potential partnerships: By attending networking events, participating in industry groups, and engaging with other businesses online, it becomes easier to develop new partnerships or collaborations.

If you'd like support in developing your visibility let's arrange a time to speak.

What I’m listening to ...

The Mel Robbin’s Podcast, which is raw, honest, practical, and funny. She tackles a range of life and business issues, which many of us face, with authenticity and vulnerability.

The Irish novelist, poet, and playwright Colm Toibin in conversation with Mariella Frostrup, on her Podcast, Books to Live By. His insight into the characters of novels, that have influenced him, is fascinating. He has inspired me to add more classical literature to my reading list.

I would love to know what’s inspiring you.

Please do email me your recommendations!
Last month I had a interesting conversation, with Jill Bennett, about the Network Marketing Industry, where we shared our insights and experience of working with big brand companies.

Over the last few years, I've been quietly building my own Health and Wellness Business, and growing my revenue, alongside my coaching and consulting business.

I know that there are mixed views about NWM, however, it’s always worth exploring different revenue streams.

Is self doubt holding you back?

Hello Theo,

I know how challenging it can be when you have a dream, goal or idea, and then all the doubts and anxieties start to show up.

The negative thoughts and feelings range from “I’m not good enough”, “I’m not sure this will work” to “What if it all goes horribly wrong”.

When we let self-doubt take over it can lead to missed opportunities, procrastination, guilt, shame, and regret.

When want we really want is more clients, success, and wealth in our lives.

Unfortunately, self-doubt never really goes away but we can take conscious steps to lessen its impact.

Do you want to join me in feeling confident and empowered to make decisions, take action, and have a more fulfilling life and business?
Here are some of my personal insights ….

~ Challenge any negative beliefs and perceptions. Are they based on reality? Can you reframe your thoughts, for example, from “I’m not good enough” to “I have the ability to learn and grow”?

~ Focus on your strengths, talents, and accomplishments. How can you use them to deal with any potential challenges or problems you may face?

~ Surround yourself with people who believe in YOU and will encourage and support you. Mentors, business coaches and networking groups can give you a different perspective and help you stay motivated.

~ Take action. Often when we take even one small step towards a goal, synchronicities happen, and tasks feel more doable. All of which builds confidence and momentum over time.

~ Stop comparing! We’re all unique in business and at different stages of growth and experience. It’s much more productive to focus on you and what you want in your business.

Finally, I like to ask myself, "What would my life and business be like, if I didn’t let self-doubt hold me back"?

Overcoming feelings of self-doubt can take time, but remember, by focusing on your strengths, and taking action, you are capable of achieving what you want in your life and your business.

From my own experience, receiving personal support can make a big difference when I want to make a positive changes, so I‘ve opened up a few places in my Empowered Female Entrepreneur coaching programme.

What I’m loving … art, exhibitions and photography

Since moving to the countryside, I’ve visited more London exhibitions and galleries than when I lived there!

In February I went to see the Cezanne Exhibition at Tate Modern, and in June I will be on my way to The Rossettis Exhibition at Tate Britain.

Did you know that viewing art has a positive impact on the brain?

Analysing a piece of art stimulates conscious and unconscious brain functions and develops problem solving skills.

And, apparently, just looking at art increases blood flow to the brain!

I also love photography!

During Lockdown I signed up for an online Photography programme with Christina Greve who lives in Denmark.

Her photography is gorgeous, and her academy is fabulous.

So, I joined again for the third time!
