Success for 2014: Lessons from a photo shoot!

Hi Theo,

Are you OK having your photo taken?

Having great personal images for your website and social media can make a big difference in terms of your brand and your profile.

It really does take you beyond the visual picture, as you have to take a look at how you show up and what messages you want to convey.

With this in mind I booked a brand photographer, and then promptly became completely distracted by an all-consuming house move. I really only engaged with the process of preparing for the shoot a short time before the day! Not the best approach...

Thankfully with lots of support and resources I had a brilliant time and I learned a lot in the process (photos coming out soon).

Here's what worked for me....

* A day spent with a stylist before the shoot to help me put outfits together and update any clothes and accessories

* A facial a week before the shoot and beauty treatments the day before

* Notes from the photographer about colours and prints to avoid and how to pose for a good photo

* Ideas on the images I wanted to create to help promote my brand - we shared a Pinterest board for ideas

* Props and accessories to reflect my interests. For me these are essential oils, books, my camera, healthy living, beautiful environments

* A makeup artist, photographer and a gorgeous location all of which helped to made me feel relaxed and comfortable

* Feedback, ideas and support from a close friend - invaluable!

What I would do next time....

~ Allow more time to prepare - I rushed around at the last minute getting things together and buying a few things! Very stressful.

~ A juice fast for clearer skin and brighter eyes

~ More rest, sleep, yoga and meditation! I did this shoot while moving and having work done on the house. I felt OK on the day but being relaxed and full of energy really does help as it can be exhausting being photographed all day!

In the end it was an amazing experience and I feel my energy and vibration around my business has shifted as I made this commitment to showing up for myself and my business.
