Over the past few weeks and months I noticed that I was slipping into the habit of waking and reaching for my phone. I thought I was being productive by checking emails and social media! But of course I was just in a daze with my scrolling. Time slipped away and I started the day feeling anxious and unfulfilled.
Fortunately, I have a book on my shelf called the Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. I was familiar with the ideas but hadn't implemented them - hence my digital distraction in the morning! The process is simple, although, at first, it may seem unachievable if you have other morning commitments.
However, I thought I would give it a go for 10 days and review how I felt.
It involves spending 5 minutes each on visualising, meditating, journaling, affirmations, reading and exercising. I decided to read in the evening and my exercise is longer as I go to the gym most days.
After day 3 my mind felt clearer, I lost the urge to constantly check emails and social media and I opened up to more ideas and possibilities in my life. I'm now on day 17 and it's beginning to feel a normal part of my day, like brushing my teeth and I look forward to my early morning respite.
In his book The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, Deepak Chopra writes about The Law of Pure Potentiality.... 'Take time to be silent and just BE'.
By doing so we access pure consciousness and the field of all possibilities. Instead of being object-referral where we are influenced by objects outside of ourselves and feel an intense need to control things, we experience self-referral where are reference point is our own spirit.
This early morning routine is connecting me back to myself. It's giving me space to visualise, create and manifest from a deeper authenticity and wisdom.
Sometimes it feels uncomfortable to let go of the feeling that to be productive and fulfilled we need to take action and get lots of things done, but, as Deepak writes 'when we realise that our true Self is one of pure potentiality, we align with the power that manifests everything in the universe'
