This summer I have swapped the city for country life and I am really enjoying a different approach to living and working!
Although I'm travelling more, I have space, physically and mentally, which has allowed me time to focus on spiritual practice, self-care and developing multi streams of income.
Which is why I'm very excited about my latest discovery for entrepreneurial wellbeing - essential oils!
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in plants. They are very concentrated - 50 to 70 times more powerful than herbs!
They can be used aromatically. For example I use a mist diffuser which dispenses the oil into the surrounding area or there are candle diffusers which heat the essential oil to promote diffusion.
They can be applied topically (directly onto your skin or diluted with a carrier oil) or some essential oils can be taken internally.
Because they can be very powerful it's worth checking the quality of the oils and how to use them. Personally, I use certified pure therapeutic grade oils (avoid the synthetic ones!) which have been tested for safety and quality and are free from fillers and harmful additives.
I've now found that it's very easy to incorporate essential oils into my daily routine, whether I am working from home or travelling, to help raise my vibration and stay focused and calm.
These are just a few of the essential oils that I'm using currently. It's great to have a quick remedy at hand ....
Morning
Sandalwood is frequently used in meditation for its grounding and uplifting properties. You can inhale a drop directly from the palm of your hands or diffuse to help balance emotions and enhance your mood.

A drop of Lemon essential oil in a glass of water is not only refreshing, it naturally cleanses the body and aids digestion.
All Day
I use a range of essential oils to help manage my energy and emotions throughout the day....
Wild Orange is high in antioxidants and is excellent for energising and revitalising. It has a wonderful citrusy aroma and can be mixed with Peppermint and Frankincense and inhaled from the palm of your hand for a quick boost. A drop added to water can also promote overall health
Peppermint essential oil is very invigorating! It works as a quick pick-me-up when rubbed into the back of your neck and is great for helping reduce headaches.
If I need to focus then Basil essential oil applied to my temples can lessen anxious feelings and is said to enhance memory.
A blend that I diffuse when I need to feel more positive includes Lavender, Tangerine, Lemon, Melissa, Ylang Ylang and Sandalwood. It has a very refreshing and energising aroma. Just what I need if I'm feeling stuck or in a low mood.
Lemongrass can also help promote a positive outlook and heighten awareness.
Evening
At the end of the day to help me wind down I use essential oils such as Lavender because of its calming and relaxing qualities, or if I have trouble sleeping then I rub Vetiver into the bottom of my feet (it has a natural sedative effect). If something is troubling me then I can cope much better after a good night's sleep
