Google
Updating Our Terms of Service
We're improving our Terms of Service and making them easier for you to understand. The changes will take effect on 31 March 2020, and they won't impact the way that you use Google services.
For more details, we've provided a summary of the key changes and Frequently asked questions. At a glance, here's what this update means for you:
Improved readability: While our Terms remain a legal document, we've done our best to make them easier to understand, including by adding links to useful information and providing definitions.
Better communication: We've clearly explained when we'll make changes to our services (like adding or removing a feature) and when we'll restrict or end a user's access. And we'll do more to notify you when a change negatively impacts your experience on our services.
Adding Google Chrome, Google Chrome OS and Google Drive to the Terms: Our improved Terms now cover Google Chrome, Google Chrome OS and Google Drive, which also have service-specific terms and policies to help you understand what's unique to those services.
No changes to our privacy policy: We're not making any changes to the Google privacy policy and we haven't made any changes to the way that we treat your information. As a reminder, you can always visit your Google Account to review your privacy settings and manage how your data is used.
If you're the guardian of a child under the age required to manage their own Google Account and you use Family Link to manage their use of Google services, please take some time to discuss these changes with them.
And of course, if you don't agree to our new Terms and what we can expect from each other as you use our services, you can find more information about your options in our Frequently asked questions.
Thank you for using Google's services.

How to get started with video (or anything else)

Do you use video in your business?

After some resistance I finally started showing up on Facebook with video!

You may be well ahead in this area but I had all sorts of excuses – what to say, how to use the technology, what would I look and sound like, I could be doing other things, what if I get negative feedback!

I really had to manage my mindset around this.

However, I faced up to the fact that if I ask my clients to do something then it’s important I know what’s involved.

Plus, it is a great way to increase your visibility, get your message out there and build trust and connection (interestingly many companies are now asking applicants to send in video applications with their CVs).

If, like me, you’ve thought about doing your own videos, or if there is a project you’ve been putting off, I realised how I got started is a very simple formula for achieving any goal, without the overwhelm.

~ Firstly, I just got curious and watched lots of videos to see how others delivered their content, how they showed up in terms of their language and energy and what worked in terms of engagement.

~ I signed up for two online courses and attended a one day workshop. The downside of the online course was that I ended up watching the training but not implementing it so…

~ I persuaded a friend to do the video exercises with me each day, as a way to receive feedback and encouragement. Eventually, I became more comfortable with filming myself.

~ That proved to be the turning point.  It all started to feel like fun. I took myself less seriously, let go of perfectionism and embraced being me, while looking at ways to get better.

~ From this initial start I researched, lights, microphone and a video camera. And I began to experiment with environment, colours, makeup, hair etc!

~ I soon realised motivating myself to show up consistently on camera would be a challenge. Luckily, this coincided with one of my Storytelling/Video mentors launching a paid Facebook Group for ongoing training. What’s great about this group is that it’s a safe place to practice. We're given lots of encouragement and together we keep learning and growing. Plus I've made new friends.

It's been interesting to see how staying open to the possibilities, getting over myself (!), and taking those first small steps opened up so many opportunities and connections than if I'd stayed in my excuses zone.

I would love to know....have you overcome resistance to starting something new and what did you do?
